Cooper Tyres and Rubber Company was established in 1914 in Akron at Ohio by two brother- in- laws, John F. Schaefer and Claude E. Hart. At first, the company manufactured patches of tyres, tyre cement and different types of repair kits for tyres. Later, they bought The Giant Tire & Rubber Company of Akron in order to further their business. Today, the company is known for being the 10th largest tyre manufacturing industry in the world and have three tyre manufacturing factories in the USA and also have other branches in Australia and Avon tyres, which sold to Cooper in 1997, has been one of a primary automotive business of Cooper.
