Compared to winter tyres, the rubber mixture of the summer tyres is harder, even in high temperatures. Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.
 
Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.
 
Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!
 
Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.
 
Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.
 
Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

Tyres with a special OEM marking on the sidewall, e.g. "MO" for Mercedes-Benz, were developed in cooperation with a specific car manufacturer and the tyre industry. These tyres have been homologated by the vehicle manufacturer and are a perfect match for a specific model. They have been specially designed to highlight or further improve the performance characteristics of the car in question, thus representing the culmination of a state-of-the-art fine-tuning process that perfectly complements the latest technological developments in the automotive industry. The MX5 Mk3 NC is generally regarded by enthusiasts as the worst handling of all the MX5&#39;s due to its extra height, weight, and suspension settings but I deliberately selected this particular version for its comfort, power folding roof, and pleasant ride. When first purchased the car was fitted with ridiculously wide [10&quot;] rims shod with obscure American tyres. It handled like a pig, followed every white line, and a matchstick on the road felt like a small boulder. Fortunately I swapped the big wheels, with another enthusiast, and acquired a set of 16&quot; Momo alloys. These wheels were shod with Falken tyres, two of which were almost new and two almost shot. The decision was whether to change tyre brand completely or see how the Falkens fared. The various MX5 Forums showed a wide range of differing views on the best tyres for my MX5, at hugely differing costs, so I decided as an experiment to stick with the with Falkens and subsequently fitted a new pair to the front. At this stage I should add that it has taken me three years to rebuild this MX5, it is probably my last car, and it is very rarely driven to its limits. Whilst I still enjoy a spirited drive around the enticing Welsh and Shropshire roads, and the occasional run to Essex and the South Coast, I gave up thrashing my cars when I retired from the circuits over 50 years ago! Today safety, comfort, and pleasure are my prioroties! Over three years the Falkens have performed well for &quot;budget&quot; tyres. In the dry they behave well, are quiet, and very predictable. In the wet they can be induced to loose grip [especially on the rear] but I have never had the front break away unexpectedly or in a dangerous manner. An over enthusiastic right foot will induce wheelspin when pulling away in the wet, even in town, but the Falkens soon regain traction. In the dry the rear can be induced to &quot;hang out&quot; but I have never had any major concerns about the car swapping ends. Some of the younger members of the MX5 fraternity have told me that [when run at higher pressure] the Falkens behave well on the track but wear quite quickly which is something I have not tried, and will not experience. Compared to the exhorbitant wear rate of far more expensive &quot;leading&quot; tyre brands experienced by my friends [some as low as 12,500miles per set] on far more recent premium cars, I am more than satisfield with the Fakens and will probably, eventually, replace them with the same brand.

The most expensive conti's I've ever purchased (x4) Ouch!! I've bought a lot of other conti's in the past. Inc Sportcontact & Uniroyal tyres. Ecocontact5 are noisy, very average grip levels in wet & dry conditions. Poor wear levels for a so called eco tyre :-( Neither do I like the feel of them during cornering. I will not buy these budget/mid range level tyres again. I really don't have anything positive to say about these tyres. Apart from when I'm going to change them. Buy another mid range tyre instead or even a budget & save money ;-)

Just put these on the rear of my car. The were fitted on a wet day when the roads were greasy. With the tyres being brand new I was expecting wheel spin when I put the foot down. Nope, not a bit, the tyres bit hard. Even on the motorway at 120 kph when I put the foot down I could feel the extra grip and push which added to the driving pleasure and thrill. I&#39;ve tried spinning the rear wheels in the wet but they just seem to grip really well.

Terrible grip especially on wet - went sliding on a roundabout with slow speed. Simply doesn&rsquo;t grip on the road well. I have tried several tyres in my driving time but these sadly are one of the worst purchases I&rsquo;ve made. I was hopeful as it&rsquo;s Goodyear but it&rsquo;s a huge disappointment. Don&rsquo;t waste your money on this. The noise isn&rsquo;t too bad, but fuel consumption is poor and so it&rsquo;s the grip!

Nearly perfect road tyre in my opinion. I usually drive sensibly, but often &quot;spirited&quot; and found no major downsides, grips really well. ~2000 miles so far I don&#39;t see any wear at all (unlike the budget tyres I had before). The only drawback was going through puddles at speed, but I think that&#39;s more my car lacking a limited slip diff.

I used to own Primacy 4&#39;s which I liked very much, but pricewise 4&#39;were too expensive. I think Goodyear Efficient Grip 2 are very comfortable tyres. They produce less internal noise when compared to Primacy 4&#39;s. Also Goodyear Efficient Grip 2 are softer and less precise (just by marginal difference) than Primacy 4&#39;s. Overall I like Goodyear Efficient Grip 2 very much and I think these are safe, comfortable and well pierced premium tyres. I&#39;ll buy these tyres again for sure. I would say I should do around 45,000 km in this tyres (front axle) seeing current usage (1.3mm) after 8,500 km.

The biggest problem with these tyres ar that they do not have rip protection. I have been using Hancooks on my previous car, so when looking for tyres for my current car, Hancooks came to mind. I had a better driving experience with the tyres that I replaced.

These tyres give a superb quiet ride. I also have these tyres fitted to the front of my vehicle, which have now completed 45,000 km and the wear is every bit as good as the Michelin tyres they replaced. Although I do not drive in an aggressive manner I have not noticed any detriment in road holding or fuel consumption.

Fabulous tyres and exceptional wear, considering the price point of these, especially given my driving style. I&#39;ll definitely see over 20000 miles on these tyres which I find remarkable on a heavy car with over 400hp. Could I have better grip, sure for twice the price. Do you really need it, even for having fun on UK roads, no! They are soft rubber though, so you&#39;ll know if your alignment is out, these didn&#39;t last long on my Merc V Class!

Doing relatively high mileage of over 40k every year, I&#39;ve been through various different premium tyres over the years. Let me tell you, in the 5k miles on these tyres so far I&#39;d say they&#39;re pound for pound up there with premium tyres for everyday driving. I&#39;ve found them to be really good in the wet, no major drama with aquaplaning and my heavy right foot has encountered no issues in cornering. Strangely, I&#39;ve found that I&#39;m more confident with these in the wet than dry- they tend to be slightly unpredictable when pushing on. Not a massive issue by any means and shouldn&#39;t put anybody off, it&#39;s just highlighted by my spirited driving style! Wear seems to be decent so far, but as I said I&#39;ve only done 5k so far so too early to tell. All in all, great value for money and worth a try. On 20&#39;s, The Goodyear Eagle F1s that I had on previously were &pound;160 each, whereas I got these for &pound;115. 200 quid saved, and genuinely no worse performance. Well done Viking!

205 55 R16 Summer Tyres in All Price Ranges

Primarily used for saloons and mid-range estate vehicles, the 205 55 R16 is a summer tyre produced by numerous companies. Premium manufacturers as well as companies where the costs for the new tyres are in the lower price range. For many years, this dimension has been a standard tyre for many vehicles in the summer, allowing consumers to benefit from its excellent characteristics. Whether on dry or wet ground conditions, most models convince with a good performance. In general, the tyre models correspond to a speed index of H (up to 130 mph) or V (up to 150 mph).
