Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

/
SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.

Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.

Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!

Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.

Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.

Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

Tyres optimised for electric vehicles.
Tyre developed for electric vehicles. These tyres can also be used without hesitation on vehicles with other drive systems.

Original equipment quality: optimum adjustment to the vehicle
Tyres with a special OEM marking on the sidewall, e.g. "MO" for Mercedes-Benz, were developed in cooperation with a specific car manufacturer and the tyre industry. These tyres have been homologated by the vehicle manufacturer and are a perfect match for a specific model. They have been specially designed to highlight or further improve the performance characteristics of the car in question, thus representing the culmination of a state-of-the-art fine-tuning process that perfectly complements the latest technological developments in the automotive industry. Tyres with manufacturer's markings can of course also be used on other vehicles.

On my second set of these tyres, excellent grip and handling. Good in the wet too
06.10.2023 from Victor
On wet roads, the cornering capability is reduced compared to Bridgestones, however these tyres cost 30% less. All in all, for mixed driving, it’s a great all rounder, especially since it’s very reasonably priced. A decent everyday tyre. We’ll see how long it lasts, but seems promising, so far. Noise level is quite low too.

Tyres fitted in advance of MoT in May. Since then they drive well. Had no snow experience so far this year so no input till then.

Get a Wheel Cover that Enhances Your Sedan or Performance Car’s Capacities - the 225 40 R18 Tyres

The wheel covers you have on your car have a huge impact on its performance and on your driving experience. Depending on the model of your vehicle, 225 40 R18 Tyres can improve your experience behind the wheel. These tyres are usually employed on performance cars and luxury sedans, helping them improve on the road while increasing their visual appeal at the same time.

Tyres with these measurements are often used by luxury manufacturers because they provide better handling and a more comfortable feel for faster vehicles. They are also an outstanding choice to be used on dry motorways, and perform well in cities too.

Find tyres that help you get the most from your performance vehicle

When shopping for the best tyres, you should always keep in mind the make and model of your vehicle. Low-profile wheel covers are designed for fast vehicles, either in the form of sports cars or luxury sedans. 225 40 R18 Tyres are classified as low profile because of their 40% aspect ratio. As a whole, these wheel covers tend to enhance racing characteristics, resulting in better handling and acceleration.

Another reason why numerous luxury manufacturers use 225 40 R18 Tyres and similar measurements is that they add to the visual appeal of a car. The combination of fine body work and low-profile tyres make vehicles look outstanding, either on the road or while sitting in a parking space.

The one thing you should keep in mind about all low-profile tyres is that they usually offer better performance on dry surfaces, so they are not ideal for cold, wet, or snowy conditions. If your vehicle uses 225 40 R18 Tyres or any other type of low-profile tyre, simply remember to drive cautiously.

Check out Tirendo.co.uk to find the best deal on low-profile tyres of all sizes

If you need to find quality low profile models at an affordable price, check out Tirendo.co.uk where you can purchase 225 40 R18 Tyres starting at just under £40 each.
