14.02.2021 from Adam Syme
These are the first Heidenau tyres for me, would definitely recommend them. I haven't used them off road but the tread pattern is good so I'm certain they would be fine for me. On the road they grip well (better with a few km on them) on roundabouts, rough surfaces and just perform well in general inspiring confidence. I bought them because I could get a matched tubed pair in the wheel sizes for my bike, but would choose them again when I need replacements anyway. I have a 130/18 on the rear as well as this one on the front. Good value and recommended.
02.11.2019 from Brian
An outstanding 50/50 tyre for my CRF250 Rally. Excellent performance on roads, very good on Gravel tracks but for heavy mud you'll need something more aggressive. Really good life, excellent stability and grip.
06.01.2019 from Mike brooks
Enjoyable
25.02.2015 from Chris Gilbert
This tyre has given me lots of confidence on and off road. There is ample grip on the rough and gives a smooth safe feel on the road.

21.09.2024 from Alan Johnston
I had these recommended by a forum, they were not wrong
11.03.2023 from Darren Lindsay
These are my 3rd set of Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres and they have been incredible. Very quick to warm up, slightly susceptible to squaring off if lots of motorway miles but very good grip in wet and dry. Had a couple of slight slips when banked over hard on roundabouts in the wet, but really amazing tyres. Get about 10-14,000 miles out of a front and 7-8,000 out of a rear on my Triumph Bonneville T100.
17.09.2020 from Creg Wooden
I've used Dunlop Road Smart 3, Michellin PR4 and Metzeler Roadtec 01 on my MT and the latter is by far the best. The bike feels planted, there's loads of grip even in the wet and it lasts for ages with little squaring off, though that wouldn't he the case of you did lots of motorway miles. What I like about the Roadtec is that there is more than enough dry grip than I will ever need. I'm a seasoned rider having been on bikes for 26 years and ride with enthusiasm shall we say. However despite the plentiful dry grip it is in the wet where the Roadtec shines. Lean angles and confidence that you'd expect in the dry are the norm and the feed back and turning in of the bike are confidence inspiring. These tyre also have great life with me getting 6000miles from my last rear which I think is in large part due to the fact I don't believe they are dual compound so there are no softer bits to wear quickly. Surprising given the performance of the tyre.
27.12.2018 from Steve Milsom
Not a bad tyre when new. Back tended to skip about on white lines and grooves. Past it’s best by 5000 km. wierd profile developed that caused odd handling and vibration. Plenty of tread left so I put up with it for commuting. Not as good as PR4s IMHO

Tiger 1200 Oem tyres , very good all round tyre with lots of confidence in gravel, mixed roads and forest tracks, front tyre is not happy in the mushy wet grass centres of the tracks. Very committed road use shows no issues, running water on roads is no issue and surprisingly you use the whole tyre on the rear whereas on a gsa 1200 you don’t seem to lean as far. In general 8o/20 and 70/30 tyres that actually work off road are rare, most clog up and the front behave like you are on ice, this one is better than the Michelin anakee and Dunlop offerings , a little noise but you wear ear plugs anyway so it’s not an issue. Would buy again and to reconfirm if you really use the bike hard on road you will have no issues against a dedicated road tyre .

Among so many brand. I would say Roadtac 01 giving me the most confident especially on rainy day where roads are wet. even on a slight bending also good. Perhaps its due to its aqua cutting thread design.
02.09.2020 from Andy Broad
These tyres are good to ride on & even work in the cold & wet pretty well, however they don't last. 5k miles from an expensive touring tyre is crap in my opinion. I get about 50% more mileage & the bike rides even better on Avon Storm 3DXM that I've swapped to since wearing this out. 6/10 - Must try harder Metzeler.

The rear tyre 150/70/17 needed replacing after 3000km. The photo below shows the tread depth compared to a 4mm spoke. Tread depth is about half the spoke, 2mm. This is very poor performance for a supposedly quality tire. I previously had a Shinko rear tyre and completed 8700km two up highway riding. The shinko on the front has completed 9800km and still good. I have gone back to a Shinko.

07.02.2025 from David Bennett
I fitted these tyres after a Scotland trip with the existing trail type tyres, a couple of front end twitches and countless times the traction control kicked in even just on damp roads. With these tyres fitted a mix of high speed touring across France and Swiss alpine passes, prior to which some weekend riding with mates on sports bikes. Adjusted the fork preload and the tyres performed impeccably, even the day we had monsoon like rain. I had already sorted the pressures to my liking which were 36 front and 38 rear, with or without full luggage. The bike has limited adjustment on the suspension but only required a few clicks on the rear between fully loaded and rider only. I’ve always ridden sports bikes until recently but my worries about grip handling the tight switchbacks on such a heavy bike were very quickly dispelled, No real signs of wear yet I’ll have to see how they do for longevity, but no hesitation at buying these tyres again. I have Avon sport tyres on my Honda VTR SP1 and these tyres give the same feedback and a very comfortable ride. Front 110/80R19. Rear 150/70ZR17

These tyre are hands down the best road tyres I have had on my Africa twin. The offer a level of grip I didn’t even know existed on my bike. I’ve used them for light trail riding in the dry and a trackday. It’s a do anything tyres. Would highly recommend this to anyone of a adventure bike unless u intend to do heavy offroading.

I ride a Harley so speed and handling aren’t on the agenda but I do like to have a bit of fun on the country roads around the local area. I had the tyre fitted to the front of the bike and it hasn’t let me down yet. It’s grip i can’t fault but I only ride in the dry. Braking is sound and cornering offers great grip.

Very dissapointed. Tires arrived bumpy. Front tire felt like tractor tire, shipped it back to mitas slovenia, they sent another one (less bumpy) but still bad.
16.04.2023 from Sebastjan
no complaints, the tire is more than great for the money. the handling of the motorcycle is satisfactory both in the wet and in the dry.. the rear tire lasted about 9500 km of quite wild driving in wet and dry conditions.. even on the highway over 200 km/h it is very stable.. the front tire would have lasted a few more km..

Motorcycle tyres are a safety-related feature of every motorcycle. The tyres must fit not only to the bike, but also to the season. This is the only way to get from A to B. The registration of the motorcycle gives information about which motorcycle tyres are approved for the respective model. Among other things, motorcycle tyre sizes are explained there as well.

However, the best motorcycle tyre is worth nothing if it is in the bad shape. Therefore, it should be checked regularly for damage and the tread depth. The air pressure is also crucial. Before every journey you should do a corresponding check.

Pay Attention to Types of Motorcycle Tyres

Corresponding profiles ensure that even in heavy rain riding can be fun and not a security risk - caution is of course nevertheless offered. Good motorcycle tyres offer good grip on wet roads and move safely through bends. Anyone traveling by motorcycle in winter also needs winter tyres or opt for year-round motorcycle tyres to save themselves from having to switch each season. Almost every manufacturer offers tyres for all-seasons, because many bikers love their machine so much that they want to be weather-independent on the go.

Depending on the types of motorcycle tyres you need for your bike and on the nature of your riding, it is best to go with the tyre size and type recommended by the motorbike manufacturer. For instance, for a scooter you commute to work every day and want to use for longer rides on weekends, choose motorcycle tyres that have maximum contact patch and tread that allow for rain evacuation but tough enough to carry heavy loads over long distances, as cruiser and sport tour tyres are capable of doing. Dunlop motorcycle tyres have been purposely built to be used on the country roads and byways, while Bridgestone tyres have shown versatility and durability in on-road driving conditions.

The 80/20 Rule in Selecting Motorcycle Tyres

For a safe and enjoyable ride on your bike, you have to choose motorbike tyres that address the kind of riding you do and the ground conditions where you will be driving most of the time. Usually, the 80/20 rule applies: Where will you use your motorcycle 80% of the time? If you have a bike you like to take on long rides through the countryside, while at the same time cruise city streets to go get something to eat, a set of Cruiser tyres makes a better choice than enduro tyres that may have good grip on uphill and downhill rides and long service life but little contact patch on paved roads. Michelin tyres and Continental motorcycle tyres work efficiently under those driving conditions because they have a wide selection of tyres that are designed specifically for off-road and highways.

If you want to spend 20% of your driving time in a track, you have to compromise with the fact that you won’t be the rider to finish first on track day. On the other hand, if you have to tackle a lot of obstacles and take a lot of punishment from jumping, then motocross tyres are suited for that riding condition. For this purpose, choose the more race-oriented Pirelli motorcycle tyres and Metzeler tyres because they are engineered for the race course and have both been on the road for more than 100 years, benefiting from their rich legacy of championship records.

How to Choose Motorcycle Tyres?

Choosing motorcycle tyres based on how good they look on your bike and how easy they are on the pocket is recipe for ineffective driving. Like the vehicle they are used for, motorcycle tyres are made for a specific purpose, and while cheap tyres may work under conditions that are not originally intended for their built and profile, they are going to wear faster, affect your driving performance, putting you and your passengers in peril.

Before buying a new set of tyres, you need to consider to which conditions it will be exposed to later. Asphalt or terrain, short, fast or long journeys? When making a purchase decision help yourself with reviews from trade magazines or other bikers, because no matter how different the target groups and areas of application are - safety always comes first. One of the options is to buy two sets of motorcycle tyres to suit your driving demands. Others opt to go for dual compound tyres that allow easy turning on paved roads but are durable enough to withstand the rigors of a dirt trail.
